We met on a church youth group trip to Chicago through Young Neighbors in Action when we were in high school. We rode in the same car on the drive back to Michigan and talked and joked and played the whole time, if you can believe it. After a few years of trying (and failing) to just-be-friends, we began officially dating in 2014 and fell in love hard and fast. We have spent the last 12 years learning from each other, exploring life’s beauty, and spending time with our loved ones.
Vasilios surprised michelle by asking her to marry him after climbing some snowy sand dunes at PJ Hoffmaster State Park last March. It was the first trip they took together on 2014 Spring Break, and was very special to return to that same dune in the quiet and cold as we embarked on this new chapter. Some of our Michigan family and Chicago friends were able to join us for an engagment party at Half Acre Brewery later that day.
A few weeks later, we took a trip to Isla Mujeres in Mexico and had such a perfect time that we got engaged again there too for good measure.
